Nope, I really don't see a pattern here to justify profiling, do you? So, to ensure we Americans never offend anyone, particularly fanatics intent on killing us, airport security screeners will no longer be allowed to profile certain people. They must conduct random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, Secret Service agents who are members of the President's security detail, 85-year old Congressmen with metal hips, and Medal of Honor-winning former Governors, and leave Muslim Males between the ages of 17 and 40 alone because of profiling.
Lets send this to as many people as we can so that the Gloria Aldreds and other dunder-headed attorneys along with Federal Justices that want to thwart common sense, feel doubly ashamed of themselves if they have any such sense. As the writer of the award winning story "Forrest Gump" so aptly put it:
"Stupid is as stupid does."

Does Hell Exist?
Does Hell exist? A proper biblical worldview includes a belief in a real, eternal, and physical hell. What do you believe?
It is very interesting to discover that there are more Bible verses about Hell than there are about Heaven. Here are a few verses in the Old Testament about Hell.
Daniel 12:2 proclaims, "Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt." Hell is described here as everlasting.
Isaiah 66:24 declares, "And they will go out and look upon the dead bodies of those who rebelled against me; their worm will not die, nor will their fire be quenched, and they will be loathsome to all mankind." In this Scripture, hell is described as a place where the fire is not quenched.
Deuteronomy 32:22 portrays hell as a place where God pours out His wrath, "For a fire is kindled in My anger, and shall burn to the lowest hell; It shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains."
Psalms 55:15 illustrates hell as a realm of the wicked, "Let death seize them; Let them go down alive into hell, for wickedness is in their dwellings and among them."
Does Hell Exist - What does the New Testament say?
Does Hell Exist? If the clear teaching of the Old Testament is not enough, the New Testament has much to say as well. 2 Thessalonians 1:9 tells us, "These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power."
Revelation 14:10-11, speaking of the antichrist, teaches us, "He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name."
Hell is a lake of burning fire, as described in Revelation 20:14-15, "Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire."
Does Hell Exist - What did Jesus say?
Some who argue that hell does not exist do so on the basis of their belief that Jesus taught love, peace, and forgiveness - and that He did not teach about an eternal place of fiery punishment for non-believers. However, the exact opposite is true. Jesus taught more about hell than anyone else in the Word of God. Jesus described hell as an unquenchable fire (Matthew 3:12), a place of eternal fire, (Matthew 25:41) eternal punishment (Matthew 25:46), and as a place of torment, fire, and agony (Luke 16:23-24). Jesus taught specifically about hell many times in His ministry (Matthew 5:22, 29-30; 10:28; 18:9; 23:15,33; Mark 9:43-47; Luke 12:6; 16:23).
Does Hell Exist - How is an eternity in Hell fair?
If Hell does exist, how can it be fair? Why would a loving God punish a person for eternity, when their sins only took place for 70-80 years? The answer is that all sin is ultimately against God, who is infinite (Psalm 51:4). So, since God is an eternal and infinite Being, all sin is worthy of an infinite punishment.
Yes, God loves us (John 3:16) and wants all people to be saved (2 Peter 3:9). However, God is also just and righteous - He will not allow sin to go unpunished. That is why God sent Jesus to pay the price for our sins. Jesus Christ's death was an infinite death, paying our infinite sin debt - so that we would not have to pay it in Hell for eternity (2 Corinthians 5:21). All we have to do is put our faith in Him and we are forgiven and promised an eternal home in heaven. God loved us so much to provide for our salvation. If we reject His gift of eternal life through the Lord Jesus Christ, we will face the eternal consequences of that decision - an eternity in a fiery hell.
If you were to die today do you know with 100% certainty that you are going to heaven?

"According to Paul Harvey"
The Accident Report
This was his response:
I am writing in response to your request for additional information for block number 3 of the accident reporting form. I put 'poor planning' as the cause of my accident. You said in your letter that I should explain more fully and I trust the following detail will be sufficient:
I am an amateur radio operator and on the day of the accident, I was working alone on the top section of my new 80 foot tower. When I had completed my work, I discovered that I had, over the course of several trips up the tower, brought up about 300 pounds of tools and spare hardware. Rather than carry the now un-needed tools and material down by hand, I decided to lower the items down in a small barrel by using a pulley, which was fortunately attached to the gin pole at the top of the tower. Securing the rope at ground level, I went to the top of the tower and loaded the tools and material into the barrel. Then I went back to the ground and untied the rope, holding it tightly to ensure a slow descent of the 300 pounds of tools.
You will note in Block 11 of the accident reporting form that I weigh 155 pounds. Due to the shock of being jerked off the ground so suddenly, I lost my presence of mind and forgot to let go of the rope. Needless to say, I proceeded at a rather rapid rate of speed up the side of the tower. In the vicinity of the 40 foot level, I met the barrel coming down. This explains my fractured skull and broken collarbone. Slowed only slightly, I continued my rapid ascent, not stopping until the fingers of my right hand were two knuckles deep into the pulley.
Fortunately, by this time, I had regained my presence of mind and was able to hold onto the rope in spite of my pain. At approximately the same time, however, the barrel of tools hit the ground and the bottom fell out of the barrel. Devoid of the weight of the tools, the barrel now weighed approximately 20 pounds. I refer you again to my weight in Block 11. As you might imagine, I began a rapid descent down the side of the tower.
In the vicinity of the 40 foot level, I met the barrel coming up. This accounts for the two fractured ankles, and the lacerations of my legs and lower body. The encounter with the barrel slowed me enough to lessen my injuries when I fell onto the pile of tools. Fortunately, only three vertebrae were cracked.
I am sorry to report, however, that as I lay there on the tools, in pain, unable to stand and watching the empty barrel 80 feet above me, I again lost my presence of mind. I let go of the rope . . .

God
Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her "How could God let something like this happen?" (regarding the attacks on Sept. 11). Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said "I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?"
In light of recent events...terrorists attack, school shootings, etc. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found recently) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK.
Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school ... the Bible says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.
Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage heir self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about. And we said OK.
Then someone said teachers and principals better not discipline our children when they misbehave. The school administrators said no faculty member in this school better touch a student when they misbehave because we don't want any bad publicity, and we surely don't want to be sued (there's a big difference between disciplining, touching, beating, smacking, humiliating, kicking, etc.). And we said OK.
Then someone said, let's let our daughters have abortions if they want, and they won't even have to tell their parents. And we said OK.
Then some wise school board member said, since boys will be boys and they're going to do it anyway, let's give our sons all the condoms they want so they can have all the fun they desire, and we won't have to tell their parents they got them at school. And we said OK.
Then some of our top elected officials said it doesn't matter what we do in private as long as we do our jobs. Agreeing with them, we said it doesn't matter to me what anyone, including the President, does in private as long as I have a job and the economy is good.
Then someone said let's print magazines with pictures of nude women and call it wholesome, down-to-earth appreciation for the beauty of the female body. And we said OK.
And then someone else took that appreciation a step further and published pictures of nude children and then further again by making them available on the Internet. And we said OK, they're entitled to free speech.
Then the entertainment industry said, let's make TV shows and movies that promote profanity, violence, and illicit sex. Let's record music that encourages rape, drugs, murder, suicide, and satanic themes. And we said it's just entertainment, it has no adverse effect, nobody takes it seriously anyway, so go right ahead.
Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.
Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with "WE REAP WHAT WE SOW."
Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says.
Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing.
Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.
Are you laughing?

A House Divided Cannot Stand
U.S. Senator Zell Miller
Floor Statement: 'A House Divided Cannot Stand'
Remarks as Delivered on the Senate Floor
After watching the harsh acrimony generated by the September 11 Commission in which, let me say at the outset, is made up of good and able members, I’ve come to seriously question this panel’s usefulness. I believe it will ultimately play a role in doing great harm to this country, for its unintended consequences, I fear, will be to energize our enemies and demoralize our troops. After being drowned in a tidal wave of all who didn’t do enough before 9/11, I have come to believe that the Commission should issue a report that says: No one did enough in the past. No one did near enough. Then thank everyone for serving, send them home and let’ get on with the job of protecting this country in the future. Tragically, these hearings have proved to be a very divisive diversion for this country. Tragically, they have devoured valuable time, looking backwards when we should be looking forward. Can you imagine handling the attack on Pearl Harbor this way? Can you imagine Congress, the media and the public standing for this kind of political gamesmanship and finger-pointing after that day of infamy in 1941? Some partisans tried that ploy, but they were soon quieted by the patriots who understood how important it was to get on with the war and take the battle to America’s enemies, and not dwell on what FDR knew when. You see, back then the highest priority was to win a war, not win an election. That’s what made them The Greatest Generation. I realize that many well-meaning Americans see the hearings as democracy in action. Years ago, when I was teaching political science, I probably would have had my class watching it live on television and using that very phrase with them. There are also the not-so-well-meaning political operatives who see these hearings as an opportunity to score cheap points. Then, there are the Media Meddlers who see this as great threats that can be played out on the evening news and on endless talk shows for a week or more.
Congressional hearings have long been one of Washington’s most entertaining pastimes. Joe McCarthy. Watergate. Iran-Contra. They all kept us glued to the TV, and made for conversation around the water coolers and arguments over a beer at the corner pub. A Congressional hearing in Washington, D.C. is the ultimate aphrodisiac for political groupies and partisan punks. But, it’s not the groupies, punks and television-sotted, American public that I’m worried about. This latter crowd can get excited and divided over just about anything. Whether it’s some off-key wannabe dreaming of being the American Idol, or what brainless bimbo The Bachelor or Average Joe will choose or who will Donald Trump fire next week. No, it is the real enemies of America that I’m concerned about. These evil killers who right now, right now are gleefully watching the shrill partisan finger pointing of these hearings and grinning like a mule eating briars. They see this as a major split within the Great Satan America. They see anger--they see division, instability, bickering, peevishness and dissension. They see the President of the United States hammered unmercifully. They see all this and they are greatly, greatly encouraged. We should not be doing anything to encourage our enemies in this battle between good and evil. Yet, these hearings, in my opinion, are doing just that. We are playing with fire. We’re playing directly into the hands of our enemy by allowing these hearings to become the great divider they have become. Dick Clarke’s book and its release coinciding with these hearings have done this country a tremendous disservice, and someday we will reap its whirlwind. Long ago, Sir Walter Scott observed that revenge is the sweetest morsel that ever was cooked in hell. The vindictive Clarke has now had his revenge, but what kind of hell has he, his CBS publisher and his axe-to-grind advocates unleashed? These hearings, coming on the heels of the election the terrorists influenced in Spain, bolster and energize our evil enemies as they have not been energized since 9/11. Chances are very good that these evil enemies of America will attempt to influence our 2004 election in a similar dramatic way as they did Spain’s. And to think that could never be in this country is to stick your head in the sand. That is why the sooner we stop this endless bickering over the past and join together to prepare for the future, the better off this country will be. There are some things - whether this city believes it or not - that are just more important than political campaigns. The recent past is so ripe for political second-guessing gotcha and Monday morning quarter-backing. And it is so tempting in an election year. We should not allow ourselves to indulge that temptation. We should put our country first. Every administration from Jimmy Carter to George W. Bush bears some of the blame. Dick Clarke bears a big heap of it because it was he who was in the catbird’s seat to do something about it for more than a decade. Tragically, it was the decade in which we did the least. We did nothing after terrorists attacked the World Trade Center in 1993, killing six and injuring more than 1,000 Americans. We did nothing in 1996 when sixteen U.S. servicemen were killed in the bombing of the Khobar Towers. When our embassies were attacked in 1998, killing 263 people, our only response was to fire a few missiles on an empty tent. Is it any wonder? Is it any wonder that after that decade of weak-willed responses to that murderous terror, our enemies thought we would never fight back? In the 1990's is when Dick Clarke should have resigned. In the 1990's is when he should have apologized. That is when he should have written his book. That is, if he really had America’s best interest at heart. Some will say, we owe it to the families to get more information about what happened in the past and I can understand that. But no amount of finger-pointing will bring our victims back. So, now we owe it to future families and all of America now in jeopardy not to encourage more terrorists, resulting in even more grieving families, perhaps many more over the ones of 9/11. It’s obvious to me that this country is rapidly dividing itself into two camps: the wimps and the warriors. The ones who want to argue and assess and appease, and the ones who want to carry this fight to our enemies and kill him them before they kill us. And, in case you haven’t figured it out, I proudly belong to the latter. This is a time like no other in the history of this country, and this country is being crippled with petty partisan politics of the worst possible kind. In time of war, it is not just unpatriotic; it is stupid, and it is criminal. So, I pray that all this time, all this energy, all this talk and all this attention could be focused on the future instead of the past. I pray we would stop pointing fingers, assigning blame and wringing our hands about what happened on that day David McCullogh has called the worst day in our history more than two years ago. And instead, pour all of our energy into how we can kill these terrorists before they kill us - again. For make no mistake about it. They watch these hearings. They are scheming and smiling about the distraction and the divisiveness they see in America. And while they may not know who said it years ago in America, they know instinctively that a house divided cannot stand. There is one other group that we should remember is listening to all of this - our troops. I was in Iraq in January, and one day when I was meeting with the 1st Armored Division, a unit with a proud history known as Old Ironsides, we were discussing troop morale, and the Commanding General said it was top notch. And I turned to the Division’s Sergeant Major, the top enlisted man in the division, a big, burly, 6-foot-3, 240 pound African American and I said, that’s good, but how do you sustain that kind of morale? Without hesitation he narrowed his eyes, and he looked at me and said “The morale will stay high just as long as these troops know the people back home support us”. Just as long as the people back home support us. What kind of message are these hearings and the outrageously political speeches on the floor of the Senate yesterday sending to those marvelous young Americans in the uniform of our country? I say Unite America before it’s too late! Put aside these petty partisan differences when it comes to the protection of our people. Argue and argue and argue and debate and debate and debate over all the other things and jobs and education and the deficit and the environment, but please, please do not use the lives of Americans and the security of this country as a cheap-shot political talking point.
A Poem
Anyway, here it is.
“1978”
Copyright © 1998 by Marcus Moore
The last time that I
Talked to Mom was 1978.
“You’re gonna be a grandma soon!”
She said she couldn’t wait.
I told her we were doing fine
And hoped that she was too.
And then she asked if there was
Anything that she could do.
I told her “No, we’re fine right now,”
That all we really wanted was to
Have a healthy baby and
“To bring him home to you!”
The last thing that I told her
In that phone call from Japan
Was “I love you and I miss you,
And I’ll see you when I can.”
It was only three days later
In the middle of the night
When the pounding at the front door
Interrupted slumber’s quiet.
The Red Cross chaplain and his aid
Were standing in the rain
And the news they came to share that night
Would cause us both great pain.
“Your Mom is sick and we don’t think
She’ll make it through the night,
So please pack a bag and come with us,
We’ll get you on a flight.”
The flight across the ocean
Took forever and a day.
And not knowing how sick Mom was
Caused us both to cry and pray.
Mom died before we landed
So she never heard me say,
That I loved her and would miss her
Every second of every day!
My mom’s still affecting people
by the way she lived her life.
For me she was the perfect mom,
For dad, the perfect wife.
My mom claimed Jesus as her Lord
And every day would pray
That all her friends who were not saved
Would one day see ‘the Way!”
She never got to meet my son
It breaks my heart to say.
She never got to see
The fine young man he is today.
My mother is in heaven now
And I can hardly wait
To introduce her to her grandson
Who was born in 1978!
I miss my mom terribly. She's been gone 31 years now and I can tell you that I have thought about her every single day since the day she died! Most days I think about her multiple times and there are days when all I can think about is her! She was that special. I can be talking to someone who knew her and before long they are in tears! She's been gone 31 years and her memory still brings tears to peoples' eyes! She was that kind of a person. She hated no one and no one hated her!
I love you mom!

Googol
Remember the Carl Sagan PBS series "Cosmos"? In one episode, Carl spoke of a large number he called a googol. It turns out that this "googol" is an accepted number by the mathematics community, and is defined as one followed by a hundred zeros. A large number indeed. Mr. Sagan wrote on a piece of paper, a "1" and followed it with one hundred zeros, then folded the paper, looked at the camera and told the audience that a googol of these pieces of paper would not fit into the known universe. I thought about that idea for a considerable time, then dismissed it as unimaginable. We humans have a hard time imagining a million of anything, let alone a billion or a trillion! After trying for a long time to imagine how large a number a googol really is, I came up with a thought experiment. My assumption is that everyone, everywhere could visualize a grain of table salt. Therefore, let's line up some salt, and do a little calculating! It turns out that I counted 75 grains of table salt in a linear inch, and so now we have a start. If we multiply 75 times 12, we find there are 900 salt grains in a linear foot. Multiply that 900 times 5,280 and we find 4,752,000 grains in a linear mile. Multiply 4,752,000 times 186,282 (the speed of light) and there are 8.852120611 grains of salt in a line, one light-second long. If we keep up the multiplication to find how many grains of salt there are in a line to the edge of the known universe (approximately 14 billion light years), we need to multiply our result so far, 8.852120611 by 60 (seconds in a minute), by 60 again (minutes in an hour), by 24 (hours in a day), by 365.24 (days in a year), and by 14 billion (age of the universe). This number is huge, 3.910923629 but it is only the number of grains in a single line to the edge of the universe. By the way, it is not even close to a googol. Now we need to find the volume of the universe, and how many grains of salt it could hold. The formula for volume is: Vol = 4/3 pi r3. Let's cube the radius: 3.910923629 cubed is equal to 5.981883988, so multiply this number by 4, and divide by 3 to get the result: 7.975845288 . And finally multiply that result by pi (3.1415927) to get the number: 2.505685789. Now, 2.505685789 is a very, very large number, but are we at a googol yet? This huge number represents the grains of table salt that you could get into our universe, and it is not even remotely close to my proposed googol of salt grains!!! If you will FINALLY divide a googol by 2.505685789, you will come to realize that you need about 39 billion, 909 million, 940 thousand universes to be able to contain our googol of salt grains.
Now I ask, is that an amazing visualization???
My head hurts!

If I Were In Charge...
I was looking at this Perfect Brownie pan yesterday on asseenontv.com and it costs $18.95 with a shipping & handling charge of $8.95. That's $27.90 for a brownie pan! Kind of expensive but it is kind of unique. Each brownie is pre-cut and they advertise no mess so I was thinking of buying it for my wife (to make ME brownies!). Anyway, some of my co-workers said they wanted one too so we got to checking and discovered that the shipping & handling charge would be applied to EACH pan! How ridiculous is that?!? Even worse than that--you don't know how much your credit card is going to be charged until you finish the order. Of course, they know this and it is set up that way intentionally! They're crooks and want your money. Personally, I don't know how they sleep at night.
