...there would be a total makeover of the whole "shipping & handling" scam that has been going on far too long! Shipping & handling charges would be no more than what the retailer was charged to ship your item to you.
I was looking at this Perfect Brownie pan yesterday on asseenontv.com and it costs $18.95 with a shipping & handling charge of $8.95. That's $27.90 for a brownie pan! Kind of expensive but it is kind of unique. Each brownie is pre-cut and they advertise no mess so I was thinking of buying it for my wife (to make ME brownies!). Anyway, some of my co-workers said they wanted one too so we got to checking and discovered that the shipping & handling charge would be applied to EACH pan! How ridiculous is that?!? Even worse than that--you don't know how much your credit card is going to be charged until you finish the order. Of course, they know this and it is set up that way intentionally! They're crooks and want your money. Personally, I don't know how they sleep at night.
